If you want to connect with the big brands and influencers in your niche on Instagram, there are some things you are going to have to know to avoid being shot down.
There are over a billion active Instagram users out there, and if you are going to get that partnership with a big influencer or popular brand, you are going to have to stand out and make sure you are heard.
Instagram represents one of the best ways to network with other brands and grow your presence in the social media realm and in the business world.
This article is going to explain the best approach that you can use so that you can grab people’s attention and get them excited about working with you.
Remember, some of the big Instagram accounts will get hundreds of messages every day, so it is important to stand out and get them hooked straight away.
DM Brands And Influencers On Instagram
If you are going to make an impact on influencer accounts, regardless of how big you are or how big they are, you are going to have to do the following:
- Target The Right People – there is no use sending messages to people who have no interest in you or that don’t line up with your brand image and persona
- Bring Value To Them – too many people focus on what they are trying to achieve, instead of focusing on how they can help the person they are reaching out to
- Take Rejection – you are going to have to send a lot of messages and a lot of them will miss their mark, so be prepared to take rejection a lot
- Stay Committed – you have to keep at it and not give up, even in the face of constant rejection and being ignored
Now that you have the basic idea of how it is done, let’s get into the details.
Target The Right People
In order to get the best results, you are going to have to target accounts that are relatable to your content.
We recently did a post on how you can quickly find new accounts in your niche here, so go have a quick read of that if you just want lots of accounts to DM.
You can also use a more in-depth approach, by searching for a hashtag or location that relates to your niche and examining accounts one by one to DM.
When doing this, try not to be too concerned with follower count, instead focus on engagement rate and the quality of the content.
Bring Them Value
Instead of just sending out hundreds of DMs saying the same thing, instead try to figure out a way to bring that particular account value in some way.
This could be as simple a making them content, of sending them samples, or even offering some form of cross promotion.
This last option can be great if you have a large online following on other platforms like your website or Facebook, but you are branching out onto Instagram.
Bring them value instead of just asking for something, and you may just find that these accounts are a lot more responsive to your requests.
You are likely going to have to send a lot of messages before you get anywhere, and there will be a lot of rejections and even more ignored messages.
The main thing is not to take this personally, you might have just got them at a bad time or if they get a lot of messages they might not even see your DM.
Work the numbers game and don’t let rejection phase you, it will take time before people start responding to you.
Following on from the previous section, you are going to have to send a lot of messages and the most important thing you can do is to stay committed to your activities.
You might have to send 100 messages before someone take you up on your request, or it might even be 1000, but it doesn’t matter because it always happens in the end.
The great thing is that once you have one partnership in the bag, you can use this to your advantage for getting other ones.
You can say to accounts ‘I am working with this account on this project, I was hoping to get you involved aswel.’
This can be an excellent negotiator and could mean that you get more people interested which can snowball your networking activities.
